Cravath Belts 3 HRs Sunday, June 24th , 2001 Fans are still buzzing after Baltimore whipped the Detroit Wolverines by the score of 14-7 at Tiger Stadium. Gavvy Cravath smashed three home runs in the contest, a feat that would be a career highlight for most players and few fans ever see. In a tremendous performance, the right fielder bashed out 3 hits in 4 at-bats, had 6 RBIs and scored 4 times. At the postgame press conference, Cravath said it was an "unbelievable" feeling to hit three home runs in a game. "Getting one homer is special, and two is great," Cravath said. "Three is just... wow." Gavvy Cravath hit a solo-shot off Charlie Root in the 2nd, struck out in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Felipe Vázquez in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Buddy Napier in the 8th. Thus far this season, Cravath is hitting .258 with 24 home runs, 62 RBIs and 57 runs scored. He has 70 hits in 271 at-bats and has played in 73 games. |
