Black Yankees Pitching Ravaged by Rodríguez
Tuesday, June 26th , 2001
Julio Rodríguez was smoking all game at the plate, but couldn't finish his day with a victory cigar.
After the 20-year-old Miami Cuban Giants center fielder tallied 5 hits in 6 at-bats, he was forced to watch as his club dropped the 10-7 decision to the New York Black Yankees.
"That was no fun," Rodríguez said to reporters after the game. "You hate to lose any game but it's even worse somehow to feel like you did enough to win."
Julio Rodríguez singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off Herm Wehmeier in the 8th and struck out in the 9th.
Thus far this year, Rodríguez is hitting .359 with 19 home runs, 33 RBIs and 29 runs scored.
