Simmons Bashes 3 HR for Kansas City

Ted Simmons was sending souvenirs to the sun gods all game long in the 12-6 Kansas City Monarchs triumph at Hilltop Park.
The 22-year-old put on a show for fans, launching not one, not two, but three home runs into the stands and powering the Monarchs past the Ottawa Mounties.
"One homer's good, two's great, three's out of sight," Simmons told BNN reporters after the game. "I can't wait until next game. I really feel good at the plate."
The catcher went 3-for-6, rung up 6 RBIs and scored 3 runs on his record-setting day.
Ted Simmons hit a solo-shot off Charles Radbourn in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Charles Radbourn in the 6th, grounded out in the 8th, flied out in the 10th and hit a three-run home run off Randy Johnson in the 11th.
For the season, Simmons has hit .282 with 12 home runs and 48 RBIs. He has played in 62 games and scored 37 times.
