June's Best Batter Announced Sunday, July 1st , 2001 At only 22 years of age, Gary Carter could very well have many more months like this last one during his career. That would be great news for fans of the Ottawa Mounties, as June was one to remember for the catcher and he has captured the National League Batter of the Month award. On the month he hit .397 with 14 home runs, 24 RBIs and 24 runs scored. For the season, Carter is hitting at a .322 clip with 28 home runs, 59 RBIs and has scored 57 runs. He has 78 hits, 22 walks and a .381 on-base percentage. |
