June's #1 AL Rookie Named Sunday, July 1st , 2001 Turkey Stearnes's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young San Francisco center fielder has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month. In June he was voted the Rookie of the Month. During the month he hit .378 with 5 doubles, 2 triples and 11 home runs. Stearnes also scored 19 times and drove in 25 runs. Thus far this year, Stearnes is hitting .331 with 24 home runs, 58 RBIs and 45 runs scored. |
