Sosa Crashes 3 HR Against Homestead Monday, July 2nd , 2001 Wandering House of David right fielder Sammy Sosa had a magnificent game against the Homestead Grays, rocketing three balls out of Wrigley Field to help the House of David win, 12-6. "I got some good pitches to hit and I creamed them," he said after the game. "The first was a big, fat fastball and the last two were hanging curves. All three were mistakes." For the game, Sosa went 3-for-4 with 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "There's a fine line between hitting home runs and line drives," Wandering manager Daniel Makonnen said later. "Seems like Sammy found his home run stroke today." Sammy Sosa hit a two-run home run off Cliff P Lee in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Cliff P Lee in the 4th, grounded out in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Moose Haas in the 8th. This season, Sosa has banged out 51 hits in 240 at-bats for a .212 average with 22 home runs. He is getting on base at a .260 pace and his totals also include 35 RBIs and 39 runs scored. |
