Padrón Baffles Philadelphia Batters
Monday, July 2nd , 2001
Luis Padrón bent a little, but he didn't break against the Philadelphia Stars. The Indianapolis ABCs pitcher hurled a 2-hit, 6-0 shutout in a fine performance, surrendering 2 walks and tallying 7 strikeouts.
"Luis is good at getting out of jams," ABCs manager Daniel Makonnen told reporters after the game. "He's almost more effective when he gets guys on base or gets behind in the count, because he uses your aggressiveness against you."
This season, Padrón has fashioned a 12-2 mark and 3.87 ERA in 111.2 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .201 against him and he has logged 108 strikeouts.
