Black Sox, Sea Dogs Trade Players Tuesday, July 10th , 2001 Proving the old adage that one man's trash is another man's treasure, the Black Sox announced today the acquisition of 32-year old LHP Mike Cuellar from the Portland Sea Dogs in exchange for 23-year old RHP John Wetteland and a 4th round draft pick. "This isn't the deal of the century," acknowledged the Black Sox, "but we think it will improve the direction of both teams." This season, Wetteland has made 24 relief appearances, pitched 20 innings and struck out 21 with a record of no wins and 6 losses. He has compiled a 9.90 ERA and saved 1 games. This season, Cuellar has recorded no saves with a 1-3 record. He's made 26 relief appearances, tossed 48.1 innings while fanning 42 with a 3.17 ERA. |
