Memphis Red Sox Ship Stephens to Brooklyn Tuesday, July 10th , 2001 The Red Sox and Royal Giants have been engaged in a little wheeling and dealing. They have just concluded a trade with 28-year old SS Vern Stephens going to Brooklyn in exchange for a 4th round draft pick. Memphis will retain a portion of Stephens's remaining contract. This year, Stephens is hitting .165, produced 9 RBIs and 5 home runs, scored 14 times and gotten on base at a .207 rate. |
