Philadelphia-Portland Deal: Abreu for Fregosi Friday, August 17th , 2001 It's being reported in the Philadelphia press that the Stars have traded 23-year old minor league RHP LaTroy Hawkins, 22-year old minor league RHP Dave Stieb, 27-year old minor league SS Pat Meares, 22-year old minor league RHP Jaret Wright, 25-year old minor league LF Bobby Abreu, and a 2nd round draft pick to the Portland Sea Dogs for 31-year old minor league 1B Rafael Palmeiro, 31-year old RHP Mark Melancon, 25-year old SS Jim Fregosi, and 23-year old LF Harry Hooper. However, there is no confirmation by the two ball clubs. In 111 games this season, Fregosi has batted at a .268 pace with 109 hits and 16 home runs. |
