Baltimore, Kansas City Swap Players Friday, August 17th , 2001 The Black Sox have reached a deal with Kansas City, sending 34-year old RHP Joe Beggs and a 2nd round draft pick to the Monarchs in exchange for 25-year old minor league RF Earl Averill. Reports had been hinting at a deal in recent days, but weren't confirmed until this afternoon. This season, Beggs has notched 18 saves. In 32 relief appearances, he has 30 strikeouts in 55.1 innings with a 5.86 ERA. His season won-lost mark is 1-6. |
