McGwire Goes Yard 3 Times

Mark McGwire went yard three times in a Wandering House of David victory over the Birmingham Black Barons at Rickwood Field.
"I was in a groove," he said. "Every pitch they tossed up there looked like a grapefruit."
For the day, the Wandering first baseman went 3-for-3 against Birmingham with 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored in a brilliant display of power hitting that led the House of David to the 9-2 win.
"I tell you what. I'm shocked because I didn't think that last ball had enough to get out," he told BNN reporters in the clubhouse following the game. "I thought it was just going to be a long out."
Mark McGwire hit a solo-shot off Greg Maddux in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Greg Maddux in the 4th, hit a sac fly in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off Bruce Chen in the 8th.
McGwire is swinging at a .204 pace on the year with 14 home runs, 28 RBIs and 20 runs scored. He has played in 29 games.
