Martínez Shuts Down Angels, 8-0 Thursday, August 23rd , 2001 Today was Dennis Martínez's turn in the rotation for the Baltimore Black Sox and he made the most of it, shutting out the Los Angeles Angels on 4 hits. The 24-year-old right-hander led the Black Sox to an easy 8-0 victory, allowing no walks and tallying 10 strikeouts. "I hope we miss him next time," Los Angeles manager Daniel Makonnen said. "Martínez certainly pitched a strong game against us today. He was in a groove, throwing everything for strikes. Throwing hard. Changing speeds."
