Banks Crowned Batter of the Month in August Saturday, September 1st , 2001 At only 25 years of age, Ernie Banks could very well have many more months like this last one during his career. That would be great news for fans of the Wandering House of David, as August was one to remember for the shortstop and he has captured the National League Batter of the Month award. On the month he hit .370 with 14 home runs, 27 RBIs and 22 runs scored. This season, Banks is hitting at a .299 pace with 53 home runs, 116 RBIs and has scored 85 times. |
