September's Best Rookie in a Class by Himself
Monday, October 1st , 2001
Gorman Thomas is a latecomer to this league. The 31-year-old Houston right fielder is putting up quality numbers, even though he's not your traditional rookie. On the heels of posting a .300 average, the National League named him September's Rookie of the Month.
He hit 12 home runs last month, knocking in 20 runs and scoring 24 runs. He banged out 21 hits and drew 17 walks to post a .443 OBP.
So far this season, Thomas has gotten 29 hits in 105 at-bats for a .276 batting average with 16 home runs. His stats include 26 RBIs and 32 runs scored. He has played in 34 games.
