Detroit's Cobb Takes Home AL Batting Honors Tuesday, October 2nd , 2001 Nobody in the American League outhit Ty Cobb this season. It became official today with the close of the regular season that the talented Detroit Wolverines right fielder was the best in the league. His .386 average put him at the top of the leaderboard and got him the AL batting title. Cobb's stats also included 226 hits, 72 doubles, 16 triples, 54 home runs, 140 RBIs and 157 runs. |
