Time's Up: Consuegra to Retire
Thursday, October 18th , 2001
The Miami Cuban Giants will have to find a new reliever next year as veteran Sandy Consuegra is set to retire at the end of the 2001 campaign.
Consuegra, age 37, is ready for retirement. "Time takes its toll on this old body. I can't do it as well as I want anymore. It's time to hang up the spikes and make way for a younger guy."
At 37 years of age, Consuegra has put up these numbers in his career: 79 appearances, a 5-12 record in 87.1 innings, and 28 strikeouts. He has 4 saves and a career 7.32 ERA.
