Red Sox Deal Evans to Angels for Seaver Thursday, March 21st , 2002 The Memphis Red Sox announced a deal with the Angels today, sending 25-year old RHP Mike Witt, 21-year old SS Dobie Moore, and 24-year old CF Dwight Evans to Los Angeles for 24-year old RHP Tom Seaver, 24-year old minor league SS Xander Bogaerts, 24-year old SS Andrelton Simmons, and 25-year old minor league C Mark Salas. It had been talked about for the past few weeks and everything came together late last night. All players are expected to be joining their respective clubs shortly. In his whole career, the 24-year-old Seaver has won 7 and lost 9, piling up 165 strikeouts and 83 walks in 207.1 innings with a 5.82 ERA. Opponents have hit .273 against him. |
