Kansas City, Los Angeles Confirm Trade Thursday, March 21st , 2002 Sometimes a change of scenery can be a beneficial to a baseball player. That is the hope in Kansas City and Los Angeles as the teams came to an agreement today which sends 26-year old RHP José Rijo, 25-year old RHP Jeff Pfeffer, and a 1st round draft pick to the Angels and 25-year old 3B Doug Rader to the Monarchs. "Only time will tell if this is the right move for everyone," stated the Los Angeles GM. In career stats, the 26-year-old Rijo has won 14 and lost 20, recording 237 strikeouts and 126 walks in 300.1 innings with a 5.06 ERA. Opponents have hit .251 against him. In his career, Rader is batting .287 with 310 hits, 72 doubles, 8 triples and 44 home runs. |
