Great Day for Brouthers -- 5 Hits Monday, April 22nd , 2002 Dan Brouthers did a number on the Black Sox in the 18-6 Brooklyn victory -- and the number was 5. The Royal Giants first baseman banged out 5 hits in 6 at-bats at Ebbets Field to lead his club past the Baltimore Black Sox. "I felt good in the batter's box," he said. "I had confidence in my swing and knew that it was there and that I could get the job done." Dan Brouthers flied out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Ned Garvin in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 5th, doubled in the 6th and singled in the 7th.
