Great Day for García, Hits for Cycle
Saturday, April 21st , 2001
Avisaíl García punished the Troy Trojans, leading the Black Wolf to a win, 12-4. In doing so, García hit for the cycle, tagging the Trojans for 4 hits in 5 at-bats.
A player hitting a single, a double, a triple and a home run in the same game is one of the more unusual feats in professional baseball and typically happens only a couple times per season.
"Well, I didn't expect that to happen," the Madison right fielder said after the game. "I got some great pitches and I hit their mistakes."
García also had 3 RBI and 3 runs scored in the game at Comiskey Park.
Avisaíl García singled in the 1st, hit a two-run double in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Joe Black in the 4th, tripled in the 5th and struck out in the 7th.
On the season, García is batting .321 with 3 home runs and 6 RBIs. He has played in 7 games.
