Jones Socks It to Fort Wayne 3 Times
Friday, May 25th , 2001
The "hardest feat in sports" debate is a never-ending one with no correct answer, but hitting three home runs is certainly in the conversation. That's exactly what Tracy Jones did at Parkview Field, going deep three times and carrying his team to victory, 13-7.
"It all came together. I was seeing the ball well and I got some good pitches to hit," Jones said. "Good things happen, when that happens."
The Albuquerque Isotopes left fielder blistered the Fort Wayne Daisies for 5 hits, batted in 7 runs and scored 5 times.
"It ain't like we weren't trying," Fort Wayne manager Steve Cherry said. "He was hot and really torched my boys today."
Tracy Jones doubled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Roger Craig in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Don Ferrarese in the 6th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Jim Owens in the 7th and struck out in the 9th.
In his season totals, Jones has 5 home runs, .417 BA, .475 OBP, 19 RBIs and 14 runs scored. He has played in 28 games.
