May Socks It to Charlotte 3 Times
Sunday, June 3rd , 2001
Edmonton Trappers catcher Milt May sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little.
Prior to the start of today's contest with the Charlotte Hornets, May told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times.
"During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber."
The big day from May pushed the Trappers past the Hornets, 6-0. To go along with the homers, he collected 4 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
"I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," May told reporters after the game.
Milt May hit a two-run home run off Bobby Mathews in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Bobby Mathews in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Minnie Rojas in the 8th.
This year, May has socked 30 hits in 87 at-bats for a .345 average with 8 home runs. He is getting on base at a .374 pace and his totals also include 17 RBIs and 15 runs scored.
