Cameron on a Tear, Hits for Cycle
Friday, July 6th , 2001
In an outing that will go down in the annals of league history, Madison center fielder Mike Cameron hit for the cycle, as the Black Wolf marched to victory over the Havana Industriales, 6-3.
Cameron collected 4 hits in 4 at-bats, including 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run. He added 4 RBI and 1 run scored to help Madison take the Comiskey Park contest.
"It was the last thing on my mind, really," Cameron said. "I'm out there trying to get a blooper or a walk or whatever might help the team. Even if I had wanted to, hitting for the cycle is probably as much about luck as about skill anyway."
Mike Cameron singled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Carlton Loewer in the 5th and tripled in the 7th.
