Travis Has Hot Hand, Bangs 5 hits
Friday, July 13th , 2001
Even as a kid, Devon Travis said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Isotopes Park, Travis showed how well he learned that lesson.
The 26-year-old second baseman had 5 hits in 6 at-bats for the Hudson Valley Renegades, helping his team knock off the Albuquerque Isotopes by a score of 14-3.
"They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did."
Devon Travis singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 6th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Gordon Maltzberger in the 7th and struck out in the 9th.
Travis is currently hitting .321 with 5 home runsand 17 RBIs, while scoring 14 runs.
