Solons Not Competitive in 7-0 Loss to Charlotte
Wednesday, July 18th , 2001
Bobby Mathews of the Charlotte Hornets spun his magic on the Sacramento Solons. He blanked them, 7-0, on 7 hits, registering 4 strikeouts and no walks.
"The bottom line was I just kept the ball down," Mathews said. "My breaking stuff was down. Everything was down."
Talking to reporters in the postgame interview, Charlotte skipper Justin Wise said the team "got solid pitching, good defense and took great team at-bats in a lot of different situations."
"Bobby pitched really well but this was a solid performance by everyone," he said.
This season, Mathews has worked 59.2 innings with 46 strikeouts en route to a 3-5 record and a 5.88 ERA.
