Cain Sizzles -- Smokes Bacharach Giants for 5 Hits Sunday, July 22nd , 2001 Lorenzo Cain of the Black Senators was unstoppable in his team's 9-8 victory over the Atlantic City Bacharach Giants at Astrodome. He battered them for 5 hits in 5 at-bats. "Boy, I was on the mark today," said the Austin center fielder after the game. "I could see the ball real well. It's a great feeling to do this. And besides, 5-for-5 won't hurt your batting average like 0-for-5 will." Lorenzo Cain singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, tripled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and singled in the 8th. Thus far this season in 66 games, Cain is batting .331 with 12 home runs, 38 RBIs and 57 runs scored. He has 95 hits in 287 at-bats. |
