Black Wolf Torpedoed by Crowder in 5-0 Loss to Rochester
Thursday, July 26th , 2001
General Crowder of the Rochester Hustlers was on top of his game.
The 28-year-old tantalized the Madison Black Wolf with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 5-0.
"He had the changeup working," Madison manager Oscar Morales said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."
The Rochester hurler had 11 strikeouts, gave up 1 walk and surrendered 3 hits in his complete-game effort.
Crowder told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."
"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.
To this point in the season, Crowder shows a 6-4 record, 10 starts, 71 innings, 64 strikeouts and a 4.44 ERA.
