Super Swinger -- Southworth Slams 5 Hits
Thursday, July 26th , 2001
Billy Southworth of the Biscuits was unstoppable in his team's 17-7 victory over the Edmonton Trappers at Edmonton Ballpark. He battered them for 5 hits in 6 at-bats.
"Boy, I was on the mark today," said the Montgomery left fielder after the game. "I could see the ball real well. It's a great feeling to do this. And besides, 5-for-6 won't hurt your batting average like 0-for-5 will."
Billy Southworth singled in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Adalberto Mejía in the 7th, doubled in the 9th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
So far this season, Southworth has recorded a .321 batting average with 50 hits, 7 home runs, 26 RBIs, 27 runs scored and a .359 OBP.
