Williams Slams 3 Deep for Albuquerque
Tuesday, July 31st , 2001
It was a good day for the Albuquerque Isotopes and an exceptional one for Cy Williams. The 26-year-old left fielder sent three bombs out of the park to help the Isotopes beat the Atlantic City Bacharach Giants, 9-6, at Hinchliffe Stadium.
"When you're in the zone, the game really slows down," Williams said when asked about his performance later. "I couldn't even tell you what pitches were thrown. Today feels great, but it is a long season and tomorrow is another day."
For the day, he scored 3 times, drove in 6 runs and smacked 4 hits in 5 at-bats.
Cy Williams hit a two-run home run off Bill Gatewood in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Bill Gatewood in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Bill Gatewood in the 5th, tripled in the 7th and struck out in the 9th.
So far on the season, Williams is hitting .301 with 42 home runs, 103 RBIs and 70 runs scored. He has 106 hits and played in 94 games.
