Hiura Goes Long 3 Times
Thursday, August 2nd , 2001
Keston Hiura brutalized the Hudson Valley Renegades pitching staff, launching three home runs in the 6-5 Oklahoma City victory at Blues Stadium 1942. The Oklahoma City Redhawks second baseman was red-hot, the ball just exploding off his bat all day.
"I don't try to hit homers," he said later. "I try to go out there and put a good swing on the ball, and sometimes it is going to go out of the park. I didn't try to hit the first one or the second one or the third one."
For the game, he went 4-for-5 with 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
"Too much Keston Hiura today," Renegades manager Joel Raya said. "That's my assessment of the game. That's what our problems boiled down to."
Keston Hiura hit a solo-shot off Noah Syndergaard in the 1st, flied out in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Noah Syndergaard in the 6th, hit a three-run home run off Noah Syndergaard in the 8th, doubled in the 11th, walked in the 13th and walked in the 15th.
Hiura is hitting at a .291 mark this season. His stats show 13 home runs, 27 RBIs and 27 runs scored. He has played 43 games for the Redhawks.
