Hoblitzell Cracks 5 Hits Saturday, August 4th , 2001 Dick Hoblitzell really did a number on the Tulsa Drillers -- and the Drillers did one right back on Hoblitzell's team, the Nashville Sounds, taking the ONEOK Field contest, 4-3. Hoblitzell delivered a huge 5-for-8 performance for Nashville, but did not deliver the victory. "I felt real good in the batter's box," the 24-year-old first baseman said after putting up a game for the ages. "I had confidence in my swing and knew that it was there and that I could get the job done." Dick Hoblitzell singled in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, doubled in the 8th, grounded out in the 10th, singled in the 12th, doubled in the 14th and grounded out in the 15th. So far this season, Hoblitzell has gotten 47 hits in 143 at-bats for a .329 batting average with 2 home runs. His stats include 9 RBIs and 25 runs scored. He has played in 34 games. |
