Biscuits Heading to Round 2 Saturday, August 18th , 2001 The sweet swing of Earl Battey has led his team through the Round 1. The Montgomery Biscuits star earned series MVP honors as his club downed the Havana Industriales to advance to the Round 2. The Biscuits won the final game at South End Grounds by a score of 5-2 and the series 4-1. "I'm seeing the ball well and happy to contribute to a win," said Battey. "I hope it continues for the rest of the playoffs." For the series, Battey hit .235 with a .316 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 4 runs. The Montgomery Biscuits don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Hudson Valley Renegades - Austin Black Senators series. That series is tied at 2 games apiece. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes. |
