Black Senators Prevail, as Round 1 Goes to the Wire Tuesday, August 21st , 2001 It was a rousing finish to the Round 1 at Astrodome today. The Austin Black Senators sent the Hudson Valley Renegades home for the season with a 8-7 win in the decisive game of the series. The Black Senators took the series 4-3. Up next on their schedule is the Round 2. Hauling in the MVP trophy was Austin center fielder Lorenzo Cain. His numbers included a .367 batting average, 8 RBIs and 10 runs. "With any luck, I'll be hoisting another one of these at the end of the Round 2," he said. The Austin Black Senators will play against the Montgomery Biscuits in the next round. Montgomery won their series against the Havana Industriales 4 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes. |
