Gardner Whips Tulsa, 4-0 Sunday, August 26th , 2001 Ping Gardner had an impressive outing at NBT Bank Park, hurling the Syracuse Sky Chiefs to a 4-0 shutout victory over the Tulsa Drillers. "He threw strikes and he was always around the plate," Tulsa skipper Cole New said. "The ball was doing everything he wanted it to do. We hit some balls hard, but they were all right at the fielders." On the day, the left-handed Gardner yielded 5 hits and tallied 3 strikeouts with 1 walk. Gardner has fashioned a 10-1 mark for the season, 2.67 ERA and thrown 91 innings in 11 starts. Opposing clubs are batting .280 against him. |
