Sky Chiefs Move on to Round 3 Thursday, August 30th , 2001 Lew Fonseca sparked his Syracuse Sky Chiefs past the pesky Tulsa Drillers in a closely-contested Round 2. Syracuse topped Tulsa 7-2 at ONEOK Field to decide the series, 4-2 For his efforts, Fonseca was rewarded with the series MVP trophy for his .417 batting average, 4 RBIs and 4 runs scored. "You never want to leave anything on the field," Fonseca said. "You never want to miss a play of defense you could have made, or give up an extra base you could have gotten, because in a series this tight you never know what you'll need to win." The Syracuse Sky Chiefs will play against the Austin Black Senators in the next round. Austin won their series against the Montgomery Biscuits 4 games to 1. The Round 3 schedule will be announced after the Round 2 finishes. |
