Wright Smashes 3 Homers for Tulsa
Sunday, June 11th , 2000
Tulsa Drillers second baseman Glenn Wright sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little.
Prior to the start of today's contest with the Fort Wayne Daisies, Wright told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times.
"During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber."
The big day from Wright pushed the Drillers past the Daisies, 7-4. To go along with the homers, he collected 5 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
"I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Wright told reporters after the game.
Glenn Wright grounded out in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Jeremy Sowers in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Jeremy Sowers in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Willie Hernandez in the 8th.
This year Wright is batting .214 with 5 home runs.
