Round 1 Goes the Distance, Fort Wayne Prevails Saturday, August 12th , 2000 In an exciting Round 1 that had its fair share of drama and intrigue, perhaps it is WBL AA fans who have come out the winner. But on the field, the winners were the Fort Wayne Daisies, who edged the Nashville Sounds 4-3 to advance to the Round 2. Fort Wayne won the final game by a 8-6 count to wrap up the series. Olmedo Saenz earned series MVP honors, by hitting .321 with a .355 on-base percentage. He had 3 home runs, drove in 7 RBI and scored 4 runs. The Fort Wayne Daisies don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Sacramento Solons - Albuquerque Isotopes series. That series is tied at 3 games apiece. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes. |
