Grieve Hits 3 Homers Against Roanoke Monday, August 21st , 2000 Biloxi right fielder Ben Grieve blasted three homers today at Caillavet Park in the 9-4 Shuckers victory over the Roanoke Magicians. For the game, Ben Grieve scored 4 times and knocked in 5 runs. When he hit his last home run, his teammates, hearing the crack of the bat, leaped off the bench and rushed on the field to greet the jubilant Grieve when he reached home plate. "It was just one game, but it sure was a lot of fun -- 3-for-4, three roundtrippers and a win," a gleeful Grieve told BNN reporters in a postgame interview. "What a day." Ben Grieve hit a three-run home run off Dave Stenhouse in the 1st, walked in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Dave Stenhouse in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Sterling Hitchcock in the 7th and struck out in the 8th. This year Grieve is hitting at a .308 pace with 40 home runs and 81 RBIs. He has played in 81 games and scored 81 times. |
