Sullivan 5-for-5 Against Yankees
Monday, April 30th , 2001
Joe Sullivan was smoking all game at the plate, but couldn't finish his day with a victory cigar.
After the 22-year-old Boston Pilgrims shortstop tallied 5 hits in 5 at-bats, he was forced to watch as his club dropped the 8-6 decision to the Staten Island Yankees.
"That was no fun," Sullivan said to reporters after the game. "You hate to lose any game but it's even worse somehow to feel like you did enough to win."
Joe Sullivan singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Cal Eldred in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and doubled in the 9th.
Sullivan is batting .350 this season in 11 games with 1 home run, 7 RBIs and 7 runs scored. He has 14 hits in 40 at-bats.
