Bulls, Blanding Buzz Pythians, 2-0
Friday, June 1st , 2001
Fred Blanding bent a little, but he didn't break against the Philadelphia Pythians. The Durham Bulls pitcher hurled a 5-hit, 2-0 shutout in a fine performance, surrendering 3 walks and tallying 9 strikeouts.
"Fred is good at getting out of jams," Bulls manager Bryan Brenner told reporters after the game. "He's almost more effective when he gets guys on base or gets behind in the count, because he uses your aggressiveness against you."
For the year, Blanding has a 2-4 record with a 4.24 ERA in 6 starts.
