Buckner Hit Streak Over
Friday, July 13th , 2001
Maybe it really is taboo to talk about a hitting streak before it's over. Hours after speaking to the press about his 21-game hitting streak, Pine Bluff left fielder Bill Buckner went hitless in 4 at-bats at Exposition Park.
The sudden hitting drought came as the Judges snagged the 2-1 win over the Roanake Black Cardinals.
"Nope, it's not magic," Buckner said in his postgame press conference. "Nobody jinxed me. Streaks don't last forever. I've heard about it every day for weeks now. My roomie told me to get a hit before every game and wished me luck. I just ran out of hits."
Thus far this season, Buckner has hit .393 with 8 home runs, 38 RBIs and scored 36 times.
