Walton Belts 3 HR Against Roanake
Tuesday, July 17th , 2001
Staten Island left fielder Danny Walton led the Yankees to a triumph, 7-0, over the Roanake Black Cardinals, crushing three home runs.
"He's scary good when he's swinging the bat like that," said Staten Island skipper Allan Urbanski.
Indeed, Walton put up some "scary good" numbers: three homers, 3 hits in 5 at-bats with 3 runs and 5 RBIs.
"I'm just thinkin' about winning ballgames," Walton said. "When you think about home runs, you very seldom get 'em."
Danny Walton struck out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Dave Stieb in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off Dave Stieb in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Brad Havens in the 9th.
On the year, Walton is hitting .243 with 65 hits, 21 home runs, 65 RBIs, .342 OBP and has scored 47 runs.
