Demeter Pounds 3 HR Against Peaches
Friday, July 20th , 2001
Sometimes it just isn't enough.
Don Demeter had an outstanding day at Eck Stadium for the Toledo Mud Hens, ripping three home runs. Nonetheless, the Mud Hens fell to the Rockford Peaches, 13-12.
Demeter had a feast at the plate, pounding everything thrown his way. The 22-year-old center fielder banged out 4 hits in 5 at-bats, scored 3 times and batted in 5 runs. Despite his sensational performance, the Mud Hens were not able to hold off the Peaches.
"Baseball is a funny game," Demeter said in the post-game interview, "You can't dwell on the reasons for the loss. I'm sure there will be days when I go 0-for-4 and we win. These things tend to even out."
Don Demeter singled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Larry French in the 2nd, struck out in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Roy Mahaffey in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Giovanny Gallegos in the 8th.
Currently Demeter has 8 home runs and a .215 batting average.
