Hooks Heading to League Championship Series Monday, August 20th , 2001 Bennett Park was the scene of the Corpus Christi Hooks's Division Series triumph tonight. The team has eliminated the Penn Yan Mustangs 3-1 to advance to the League Championship Series. Corpus Christi won the final game by a margin of 4-3 to clinch. Lance McCullers was named series MVP for a strong pitching performance that included a 1.59 ERA over 5.2 innings pitched, with 1 strikeout and a 1-0 record. "More of that hopefully to come," he told reporters after the series concluded. "I'll take as many personal trophies as I can as long as we win this thing." The Corpus Christi Hooks will play against the Durham Bulls in the next round. Durham won their series against the Phoenix Firebirds 3 games to 1. The League Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Division Series finishes. |
