Hooks Win League Championship Series
Wednesday, August 29th , 2001
The Corpus Christi Hooks "bent but didn't break" against the Durham Bulls in the League Championship Series.
That's according to Lee Walls of Corpus Christi, who was named series MVP.
"Our guys faced adversity and overcame it. This series wasn't easy, but we stuck to our game and made it work," he said.
Corpus Christi won the final game by a 2-0 count and the series 4-1.
Walls's MVP performance included hitting .455 with a .500 on-base percentage. He also had 2 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 3 runs.
The Corpus Christi Hooks will play against the Roanake Black Cardinals in the next round. Roanake won their series against the Oakland Oaks 4 games to 0. The World Series schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes.
