The reliever was today named the A Reliever of the Year Award winner for 2001.
He won the award with a strong year that saw him put up 28 saves in 51 relief appearances and 31 strikeouts in 50.1 innings. He had a record of 5-3 to go with his 1.43 ERA.
He received 17 first place votes out of a possible 20. Lee Stange of the Durham Bulls finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Victor González of the Albany Diamond Dogs finished third with 1 first place vote.
