Red Sox Edge Spiders, 3-2
|
Memphis Red Sox right-hander Dean Chance pitched a good game against the Cleveland Spiders at Fenway Park, leading his team to victory, 3-2. Memphis bumps their record to 62-74 with the win.
Memphis took a 1-0 lead on Reggie Smith's 30th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Smith hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Cleveland pitcher Bill Steen visibly frustrated.
After the game, Memphis manager Daniel Makonnen applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
