Red Sox Victors, 5-3, at Baltimore
|
Memphis and Baltimore duked it out and the Red Sox came out victorious.
The Memphis Red Sox topped the Baltimore Black Sox, 5-3, at Camden Yards. Memphis first baseman David Ortiz was a spark plug for the offense. He was 1 for 2 with a home run and 3 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Dean Chance, the winner, improved to 1-1. He held the Black Sox to 3 runs on 4 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 3.
DJ LeMahieu helped out the Memphis cause in the top of the seventh inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the second baseman went 2-5 with 2 singles.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Ortiz told a Memphis Bulletin reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
The win makes Memphis 69-87.
