ABCs Beaten By Monarchs, 4-1
|
Kansas City turned a good performance from starting pitcher A. Rube Foster into a 4-1 triumph over the Indianapolis ABCs at Muehlebach Field 1923-1941. Foster yielded 1 run over 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5. His record improves to 4-0. Craig Kimbrel notched his 2nd save in 2 chances.
The Monarchs got a big at-bat from left fielder Ducky Medwick. For the game, Medwick went 1 for 4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 19th double of the season gave Kansas City a 2-0 lead.
"I felt good up there," said Medwick. "I saw the ball well."
The first-place Monarchs have a one-game lead in their division.
